Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can anyone submit to the directory?
Help keep the Directory
FREE
Anyone who uses Homestead Technologies or Intuit Websites by Homestead is eligible to be listed in the directory. Our aim is to keep the directory fairly small. This makes it easier for visitors to find what they are looking for while at the same time offering Homestead webmasters greater exposure to the public and the search engines. Sites must meet the guidelines in order to be accepted.
2. Are there specific guidelines or rules for writing titles and descriptions?
Title Length: Maximum 100 characters including spaces. Do not use the URL in the title. Use the website title, business name or actual page name if using an internal page.

Description: Maximum length 200 characters including spaces. Describe your service, products or organization. Do not simply make a list of keywords and be certain that your description makes sense to the human reader. Avoid using exclamation marks and all capitol letters. Do not use sales hype. Simply describe your site and it's focus.
3. Is it better to link to my Home page or an internal page?
Newer sites may benefit from Home page linking to develop page rank and overall site visibility faster.
Internal linking can give more visibility to specific internal pages by search engines and create page rank faster for those pages.

Our directory gives you the option of having two listings as well as a paid sponsor listing so that you can cross-categorize as well as linking to both the Home page and an internal page(s).
6. What should I do if I want to be a sponsor and all the slots are full?
Please submit the sponsor form to check for availability of space. Some ads are only placed for one month, after which the slot would be available for the next month. Also some of the ads might merely be place holders that can be removed.
5. Why should I consider a sponsor slot since I can list my site for          free?
We only accept a small number of sponsorships and you are offered placement (if available) on your choice of category pages. This gives your site high visibility, more exposure, an additional listing and very limited competition. Your ad is sure to be seen and not lost among a page full of other ads. And it's considered a business expense so is tax-deductible.
4. What does SEO and visitor friendly directory mean?
It means that the free directory has been developed to be easily traveled by the search engines and is well optimized to help both you and the directory place well in searches for specific categories. Our editing process is done by human review assuring that visitors receive only quality content when they use the directory. It is also designed to make finding information easy, thus making it visitor friendly.
7. Can I change my mind about what Category or Sub-Category my listing is in?
Maybe. Send your request to us at:
support@homesteadconnectiondirectory.com
Include a brief explanation of why you wish to change and it will be taken under review. Repeated requests for changes will result in the listing being removed altogether. This applies to both the free and the paid listings.
8. Can I submit my site without listing a category since I'm not sure which one would be best?
Definitely! We'll review your site and place it in the category we feel most appropriate. You must however complete the informational part of the submission form. Enter 'Unsure" in the category and sub-category sections.
9. I would like to have a sponsor slot but don't have the ability to create a graphic. Can I just send you my information?
If you do not have access to creating a card-type image we will design one for you based on the information you submit and using your logo if one is available. There is a $10 design fee.
10. Will I benefit from submitting to a directory that is just starting out?
Yes indeed! By submitting to a start-up directory you can get a good spot in the listings. The PR will improve with time and you will then be well-positioned in your particular category.
11. My site isn't finished yet. Can I list it anyway?
We do not accept sites that are under construction as it can hurt your potential rankings with search engines to release a partially completed site and also we want people who use the directory to get good results in their searches.
